Much has happened since the last time i wrote about Andy Gilmore. He has done some interesting projects for major clients. His signature is geometrical and colourful illustrations, and it is nice to see how big business is investing in cool design like this at the same time as the artistic expression is safeguarded.

Kate MccGwire is an artist I just discovered while crusing through sites at Cargo. Watch her work, and slide into a beautiful, yet a bit creapy world... What she does is referring to our daily reality through the use of natural materials like feathers and detailed craftmanship. And at the same time creating something that is really beside our own reality, with the fluid, organic aesthetics and odd, but still lifelike forms. I love the way this kick starts my imagination!!

We live in a beautiful world, but we don't really know it. Botanical illustrations like this should really make one think about this rare and fantastic planet that we live on!!!! Ernst Haeckel made these illustrations a looong time ago, from 1899-1904 to be correct. Kunstformen der Natur is a collection of all of them. He was the father of biology and a real pioneer at his time, and he continues to inspire both scientists and artists.

These carpets are woven from discarded ropes of sisal, by an artist being completely without any traditional weaving skills. Abakanowicz says that this is one of the reason why she actually made it; she saw her limitations as possibilities, and her ability to transform the material and her selflearned technique into pure art.

This scientist dr. Manel Torres from Spain is teaching at a school in London, and he has created a spray-on fabric that can be sprayed on any surface, and can, as you can see: create amazing clothes!! Mai gad!! Very inspiring. It can actually be washed and reworn. A revolution one can say!
